The WWII Memorial still closed in Washington

I visited Washington D.C. a few years back and had such a good time wandering the Mall and looking at all the monuments. As, you can imagine I took a bunch of pictures. I can't believe they would put up barriers around these, as they are just out there in the open. Now, it would be hard to get pictures near them. Hopefully everyone will come to the senses soon and open these treasures back up. Even more so with the National Parks. It must take more personnel and equipment and cost to keep people out vs. watching them visit? A San Francisco cable car climbs California street to the top of Nob Hill by the Mark Hopkins hotel on the left. I liked the sunlight coming in from the top right corner and used that to focus the attention on the cable car by blowing that out some and adding a bit of glow. I used On1 Software Filters for this one. I also like how it's sharp at the cable car and then fades toward the upper corner. I also added a vignette called the Big Softy to darken the bottom edges. Tomb of the Unknown Surfer

Here is the Tomb of the unknown surfer. It's on West side drive in Santa Cruz, California. Well, of course it is. This monument in close to the Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse and surfing museum. Good view of the Boardwalk from here as well. What caught my eye was the red and purple flowers and the surfer in the background. California College of the Arts

This shot is almost 40 years in the making. I went to college here when it was still called California College of Arts & Crafts. Yes, well before there were computers and most art was still done by hand. Imagine yourself back in 1970 fresh off the farm and in the city trying to learn how to make a living creating art. The faint, maybe not so faint smell of pot hung in the air. Shown above is the path to the library and the bottom picture is the administration building.
